Malnutrition is a “hidden” trap. A malnourished mother is more likely to give birth to a low-birthweight baby. If that child is undernourished during the first 1,000 days (from conception to age two), they may suffer from stunning – a permanent physical and cognitive limitation.
The Impact: These children often struggle in school, earn less as adults and eventually raise malnourished children of their own. Nutrition programs break this loop.
The Mire Women Development Centre poultry project is designed to transform the lives of local women by turning traditional backyard bird-rearing into a sustainable and profitable business. This project serves as a “living bank” for our members, providing both financial security and nutritional health for their families.
At Mire Women Development Center, we believe that empowering a woman means empowering a steward of the earth. Our conservation project focuses on reducing the community’s “carbon footprint” while creating sustainable alternatives for energy and agriculture.
Our Vegetable Gardening project is more than just planting seeds; it is about cultivating health and financial resilience. By teaching women how to manage “backyard pharmacies,” we ensure that every household has access to fresh, organic, and nutrient-dense food throughout the year.
